In Shanghai in July, the sun is blazing. From July 1st to 12th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Paris School of Excellence in Engineering welcomed 11 students from top universities around the world, including the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the National University of Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University, to launch an international summer school with the theme of "Reduced Order Model, Data Assimilation and Digital Twin". The summer school course was led by Associate Professor Gong Helin of the college, and during the spare time, the college organized a variety of enterprise visits and cultural experience activities.

Focus on digital twins in smart manufacturing
This course focuses on "the application and development of digital twin technology in the field of intelligent manufacturing". Associate Professor Gong Helin invited Gong Wei, associate researcher from the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Zhu Shengfeng from the School of Mathematical Sciences of East China Normal University to give a lecture with him.
The digital twin in intelligent manufacturing refers to the seamless connection of the physical world in reality and the digital world in the virtual, so that the whole life cycle links such as product design, manufacturing, and service in the real scene can be restored in the virtual system. The theme conference of the 2023 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference released eight major trends in the development of China's intelligent manufacturing, one of which is "digital twin factories are the key direction, improving the level of factory construction and operation".
In the form of "mathematics + engineering" integration, the course comprehensively teaches the theoretical knowledge of data assimilation and model order reduction, and introduces the basic framework and engineering application of digital twin modeling on this basis.
The students thought that the series of courses was full of academic knowledge, involving a lot of mathematical knowledge, and the teachers' explanations were simple and easy to understand. The instructors also spoke highly of the students' attentive listening and active participation in the class.

Experience the innovation and entrepreneurship ecology and industrial practice
In addition to the classroom, the college also organized students to visit and study at the Southern Science and Technology Innovation Training Base (full name is "China (Shanghai) Entrepreneur Public Training Base" (Southern Science and Technology Innovation Center Sub-base) located in "Da Zero Bay". Nankechuang Training Base is the first functional support platform for scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship set up by the government in the Da Zero Bay area, and by visiting the cultural corridor wall and intelligent manufacturing training platform, international students deeply feel the vigorous vitality of Shanghai's innovation and entrepreneurship.
